Retail Crime Taskforce Impact and Engagement Survey
Overview
In December 2024, following a notable rise in Retail Crime across the country, the Scottish Government allocated an extra £3 million to Police Scotland, as a revenue spend for the financial year 2025/2026, to assist in tackling the issue and provide specific focus on the Retail Sector. This resulted in the establishment of Police Scotland’s Retail Crime Taskforce.
Since implementation the Taskforce has worked hard to deliver a visible and measurable impact on Retail Crime, adopting a 4Ps Approach of PREVENT, PURSUE, PROTECT and PREPARE.
Significant work has been undertaken by the team and as we head towards the conclusion of the funded period, the Taskforce are keen to engage with the Retail Sector to evaluate the understanding, engagement and impact of Taskforce Activity.
The results of this survey will inform the future activities of the Taskforce. They will also be utilised as part of Police Scotland’s internal reporting processes and partnership communications.
The findings of the survey will be shared with the Retail Sector in a subsequent edition of the Taskforce’s Retailer Bulletin.
