Estates Consultation: Stewart Street
Results updated 27 May 2025
Thank you for your interest and engagement in the Police Scotland estate and changes proposed.
In December 2023 we launched public consultations on the future of a number of police stations including Stewart Street.
Since launching the consultation, further work has been undertaken internally to review and consider what our wider estate requirements will be for the future. A key component of Police Scotland’s three-year business plan is to deliver a more effective and sustainable estate.
In November 2024, the Scottish Police Authority endorsed Police Scotland’s Estates Masterplan, a 10-year estates transformation programme that sets out our strategic intent for each building and most importantly enables us to prioritise that work. Shortly after the Scottish Government indicated that funding would be provided to support its implementation.
The future of Stewart Street police station is currently under review as part of the Estates Masterplan.
Within the masterplan, it is our desire to move to a hub and spoke model of estate.
The hub and spoke model will allow us to invest in buildings that provide our officers and staff with the operational space they need, with suitable rest and welfare facilities and that will allow for greater collaboration across teams.
Supported by community touch points, that can be delivered in a variety of ways such as co-location or the provision of local drop-in sessions, we can maintain visibility and a close connection with local communities to continue to deliver effective policing services.
The exact look and feel of this estate model will be tailored to each area and will take account of local needs and dependencies.
We are committed to creating an estate that is best for our officers and staff, best for us operationally and best for communities that we serve
Stewart Street front counter is open 24 hours, seven days a week.
A copy of the Estates Masterplan document as provided to the SPA Board in November 2024 can be found on the SPA website.
