Estates Consultation: Lochmaddy
Results updated 7 May 2025
Thank you for your interest and engagement in the Police Scotland estate and proposed changes.
Our proposal to relocate Lochmaddy police station to within the nearby Sheriff Court building and dispose of the current property remains ongoing. We hope to progress these plans during this financial year 2025/26.
In the meantime, our officers based at Lochmaddy will continue to serve the North Uist community from the existing station.
When the proposed move from the existing building to the Sheriff Court is confirmed, full details will be publicised locally.
A key component of Police Scotland’s three-year business plan is to deliver a more effective and sustainable estate.
We want an estate that enables modern policing, supports the health, safety and wellbeing of our people and the communities we serve and reduces long term operating costs.
As highlighted at the time of the public consultation, the building at Lochmaddy is in poor condition and is in need of significant investment. Co-locating at the Sheriff Court, along the road from the current station, will provide a variety of benefits including retaining officers in our communities, sharing resources and working more cohesively with partners in a shared environment.
