Estates Consultation: Dalmally
Results updated 26 Jun 2024
Plans to dispose of Dalmally police station in Argyll have been approved following public consultation.
Dalmally has not been used operationally as a station since 2022, although the house was used for officer housing until August 2023. Response officers are stationed in Oban police station, which is 25 miles west of Dalmally. There are also officers based in Crianlarich in the east. Where our officers are based is simply where they start their shift. With investment in our fleet and device technology, our officers are now fully mobile to be able to police the Argyll area without the need for a base in that location. This means they have little need to return to the office, allowing them to be more present and responsive in the communities we serve.
Officers have continued to effectively serve the area from Oban for the last few years with no detriment to the level of policing service delivery to the community.
The building and driveway will be marketed for sale in due course. The surrounding grounds are not owned by Police Scotland.
Our officers will continue to be visible and accessible, and the local community will continue to receive the same high level of service from officers based in Oban.
