It is clear when looking at the current and predicted demands on policing that these need to be carefully considered due to the impact they have on achieving objectives for the next 10 years. 10 years is a long period of time to enable an accurate prediction.

Protection of the population should definitely be the priority. However, public sector reform is clearly stating that public sector agencies must work together on prevention and tackling inequalities and we must fully involve communities in this. Therefore, the main areas of focus appear to propose a sensible and appropriate way to deliver an enhanced policing service.

The key to successful delivery of this forward thinking strategy will be to have a workforce that is aligned to the 5 key areas of focus and the have full belief in the values of Police Scotland. It is good to see a realization that the organization may need to be reshaped to deliver this.

Particularly found that “Our strategy on a page” provided an effective survey of the key important elements to aid understanding of your objectives, vision and how you intend to deliver this.

Stirling Council is currently successfully working collaboratively with Police Scotland however it is very positive to read that collaborative/partnership working is one of the strategy objectives. Working with and responding to the needs of the community and focusing on where need is the greatest will also support community planning and Stirling Council’s model of service delivery.
