The focus on the virtual world shows that the police are looking to shift and change their priorities to the fast moving development of technology.

Please tell us why you think these are the right or wrong areas of focus?
Building trust within communities will allow them to feel supported by the police. Tackling inequalities in the shape of hate crime will be a major factor in this. There is a strong link between all of the areas of focus. This will help to deliver a more effective public service.

Please tell us why you think this is the right or wrong approach?
Yes, I do think this approach is the right one to take. The areas highlighted around working with individuals and communities is particularly important for me. The community needs to feel that the current police force has integrity and can be trusted. This will build a solid foundation and hopefully encourage the public in being more forthcoming to assist in tackling issues.

Yes. In addition to my previous answer. It is essential for the black, minority ethnic communities to see that changes are being made. This will result in effective partnership working with individuals and community agencies.

Workforce

5. The Policing 2026 strategy highlights that we will need to re-shape our organisation with a workforce focussed on having the right skills and capacity to meet future challenges. Do you agree with this approach?

The police force should represent the community. Again, if the BME community is used an example, the appropriate skills needed for language support, being culturally sensitive etc... will be useful. Especially with the current drive for recruiting individuals from these communities with the Positive Action group on social media.
