A lot of ambiguous, non-committal language. The 'day in the life of...' is absolutely ridiculous and not in any way representative of what a police officer does today, or what, in my opinion, an officer will do in 2026.

Focus

2. Do you agree the main areas of focus proposed within the Policing 2026 strategy are the right ones to deliver an enhanced policing service?

Please tell us why you think these are the right or wrong areas of focus?
Vulnerability, and in particular Mental Health, should be pushed away from police towards actually trained partner agencies. Leaving police to deal with the 'core' policing work.

The police must upset people every single day to do their job properly. The police for a number of years have been far too concerned about peoples perception of them and not what is actually the right thing to do, or action to take.

Workforce

5. The Policing 2026 strategy highlights that we will need to re-shape our organisation with a workforce focussed on having the right skills and capacity to meet future challenges. Do you agree with this approach?

Reducing Officers is absolutely the correct approach in this time of reform. Definitely agree that a better more efficient service could be delivered with a lot less officers and more staff

Clear & Understandable

6. Is the strategy presented in a clear and understandable way?

Yes

Understandable, yes. Clear, not really. The use of ambiguous, non-committal language is used to absolve senior officers from the responsibilities of following through on actual commitments.

Other views

7. We would welcome any additional views you have on our strategy and how it will affect you, or any other person.

We would welcome any views you have.
Agree with organisational structure change. Disagree with everything related to 'Enhanced' response to vulnerability and Mental Health. This should be dealt with by trained professionals and the police's time would be better served holding these partner agencies to account, as no one else does, but there are numerous bodies that hold the police to account for every move they make.
